Procedure detail

FUT performed on a 36 year old Caucasian male with:

- NW V Class N
- Donor density of 70-80 FU/cm?
- Hair diameter of >75 microns

Treatment plan:

- 1st procedure with 2500-3000 follicular units to reconstruct the hair line and central core
- 2nd procedure with 3000 follicular units to reconstruct the bridge, vertex and add density to the overall result
- Medical therapy with finasteride 1mg

1st procedure (January 5th, 2005):

A Follicular Unit Strip Transplantation with 2834 FU
* 876 single hair FU
* 1547 double hair FU
* 411 triple hair FU

2nd procedure (April 18th, 2006):

A Follicular Unit Strip Transplantation with 1876 FU
* 666 single hair FU
* 882 double hair FU
* 328 triple hair FU

Unfortunately it was only possible to transplant 1876 FU instead of 3000 FU during the 2nd procedure due to the lack of flexibility in the donor area. Therefore a 3rd procedure had to be performed in order to achieve the required amount of follicular units.

3rd procedure (October 5th, 2007):

A Follicular Unit Strip Transplantation with 1720 FU
* 918 single hair FU
* 712 double hair FU
* 90 triple hair FU

The patient did not return for a check-up after his 3rd procedure until November 2010. He returned to our clinic to discuss the possibility of adding more density to the bridge and vertex in a new procedure. His next procedure is scheduled for March 2011.
