Procedure detail

This 47-year-old gentleman had a hair loss pattern similar to a class 5v on the Hamilton Norwood hair loss scale. Taking his age and hair loss into consideration we came upon an agreement for what would suite his expectations. After establishing his medical history and understanding the progression of his hair loss, I diagnosed his condition as Androgenetic Alopecia (male pattern baldness), ruling out any other possible dermatological or medical conditions which can cause hair loss. The patient’s goal was well suited to his needs and therefore I planned the surgery accordingly.

The plan was to have 2 FUT procedures. His first procedure he had 3,597 grafts which were used to reconstruct his hairline and put grafts into the frontal 1/3 of his head. I used a significant amount of single hair follicular units which allowed me to create a very natural hairline, which will withstand close up examination without anyone being able to determine a procedure was performed. Our goal is to make the results look natural.

The 2nd procedure he had a total of 2,687 grafts which were placed in the mid and partially vertex/crown area. The result you see are 8 months post-op from the 2nd procedure. The patient is extremely happy with his results.

Bald class 5V

Norwood stage 5V

The two areas of hair loss are larger than in stage 4. They are still separated, but the band of hair between them is narrower and sparser. There is significant hair loss on the top of the scalp (the vertex).
